Fatherhood 101

As a father it is your solemn duty and responsibility to Love, serve and protect your wife and children, and teach them the statutes of God as the spiritual leaders of your home, be faithful to your wife, to love and honor her, and be willing to lay down your life for her as Christ did it for you.

Teach your children to Love God with all their hearts, all their minds and all their strength, honour. Train them to honour authority, and live responsibly. You are to confront evil, pursue justice and love mercy.

Treat others with kindness, respect and compassion, work diligently to provide for the needs of your family, forgive those who have wronged you, and reconcile with those you have wronged. Walk in integrity as a man answerable to God, seek to honour God, obey His will and do His will. Make a vow that you and your house will serve the Lord.

I am praying for those of us who wish to make this resolution and commitment that God through Christ may give you the grace to live and honour this pact and be accountable to God, your wife and children. That God may give you the wisdom and knowledge to fulfil these God given responsibilities now and always as we raise another generation of sons and daughters.

May God give us the courage to face the challenges, controversy and conflicts that arise in your fatherly role and calling. I trust that Christ will guide you each step of the way, let us join hands and be better fathers as called to be by our creator. God Bless the Fathers.

Jesus Christ taught his disciples to pray, healed people with prayers, denounced the corruption of the temple worship (which, he said, should be a “house of prayer”), and insisted that some demons could be cast out only through prayer. He prayed often and regularly with fervent cries and tears (Heb. 5:7), and sometimes all night. The Holy Spirit came upon him and anointed him as he was praying (Luke 3:21–22), and he was transfigured with the divine glory as he prayed (Luke 9:29). When he faced his greatest crisis, he did so with prayer. We hear him praying for his disciples and the church on the night before he d...
